French silk pie: it’s amazing how intense and right taste-memories can be. My Aunt Da (my Nanny’s (now 90) older sister by 15+ years) often made this as I was growing up, and I always loved it. Aunt Da died about twenty years ago, and I haven’t tasted this since. Nanan (Aunt Da’s daughter) dug this recipe up for me a few weeks ago, and when I slipped the first bite into my mouth tonight, I was immediately transported back to Aunt Da’s kitchen. She was such a sweet soul, so kindly and good, and always had some delicious but very simple treat at the ready. This is for you, Aunt Da.
