Yotam Ottolenghi

Although not a vegetarian, Yotam is a vegetable genius. C. T.-A., what would I have done if you hadn’t given me Plenty? Mille grazie. I wondered about Yotam’s heritage as Yotam sounded Middle Eastern and Ottolenghi oozes Italian…turns out his father is Italian and he grew up in Jerusalem. His food incorporates a multiplicity of culinary traditions and is really wonderful.

My cooking pursuits this week include more from Plenty. At the farmers market this morning, I bought some celeriac, gorgeous mushrooms, and fresh sorrel amongst other delights. So, wanting to use them, I’ve perused Y’s book and found the following: Celeriac and lentils with hazelnut and mint; Chard cakes with sorrel sauce; and perhaps Mushrooms and herb polenta or Yogurt flatbreads with mushrooms and barley…

Tonight is pizza night, and I just picked the kale for my side from my garden. Can’t wait.
