Cookies!

Now this is a nice cookie. Almond butter is the primary fat, bittersweet chocolate chips pair nicely with chopped almonds, and shredded coconut adds a lovely bit of sweetness and depth.

At present, El is eating guacamole and chips, I've got Brussels sprouts roasting in the oven, and T is sous vide'ing some flap steak with rosemary which he will then sear in the Lodge on the grill. El is vexed and slightly suspicious, but being a Florentine now (meaning she will literally eat raw steak), it'll all be good.

Thanks to Twins Ace Hardware for hosting the Canning Seminar this morning and to the wonderful, large, friendly, curious group who came. I loved teaching, really enjoyed meeting you all and the strawberry rhubarb pie jam was a hell of a delicious batch. And, to all attendees, every jar "pinged"- perfect seals on each and every one.

Now I'm off to make a batch of cookies and start in on the 20 pounds of beef short ribs I just bought. Yee-haw!

In short...

The beef-zucchini-yogurt casserole is just so darn good. Wow! Make that! Also, if you can come up with a better name, let me know ASAP because 'casserole' just doesn't cut the butter, and 'beef' is so uninspired. I'm in bed now and thrilled to be here.

Pumpkin cheesecake freezes beautifully, and three bites of a slice tonight was an enormous treat.

Fanny packs should come under an immediate banish-and-burn mandate. So should black shoes worn with shorts and white socks. Quelle horreur!
