Blueberry burst muffins, the boys are coming!

Y'all, these muffins are so good! An entire cup of huge, fresh blueberries plus lemon zest, cinnamon and peaches, and just a sprinkling of demerara sugar on top. Aah! The boys are coming home today, and I can't wait to see them. I'm not sure they've missed us much, and really, I might try to subtly shift the glom-dynamic towards one a little less so. If they can go a whole week with just an aggregate of 20 minutes of talking to me on the phone, then I definitely don't think they need to follow me to the bathroom and ask me to watch everything they do. I'm going to turn the tables on you little ones. Heh!

Tofu burritos, pizza Sunday

After a productive detour through a Baltimore Home Depot this afternoon, we headed home, did a little bit more work on the now officially awesome playhouse and then I headed to the market. My only disappointment about the fabulous past two weekends I've had is that I've missed the farmers market both times. Withdrawal! So, to the market. I knew we were grooving on a pizza night so picked up some good cheese and such, but in preparation for Meatless Monday, I made some tofu burritos. These also freeze well, which is what I'll do with most of them. Without the avocados of course. Pretty, eh? Quick quote from 30 Rock rerun:

Liz: "the gala's not tonight? why are you in a tux?" Jack: "it's after 6:00p, what am I a farmer?"

Hah!

Random Sunday morning musings

Doesn't the phrase "Aleppo Codex" just sound really cool? It's like Ministries and Directorates rather than our (very underwhelming) Offices and the like. We need to have Ministries! Directorates (but not scary dictatorial ones)! Codices! Perhaps more would get done in various levels of government if they enjoyed cooler names. At this point, anything's worth a shot, yes? Paul Ryan? Really? I am not of the mind that this will help Romney. Under Ryan's tax plan, Romney would pay just 0.8% in taxes. And as T just said, "if you don't believe me, go watch the debate when Romney said (disparagingly I might add) that he'd pay almost zero under Ryan's hoo-ha nonsense." Well, hoo-ha nonsense weren't his words, but the rest were.

We are having such fun in Philly. It has been FAB to see our friends, and last night we had the best time indulging in pre-dinner drinks at The Franklin Bar (everyone who heads to Philly should go there at least once; it's my favorite bar ever) and then a delicious feast at Zahav. I'm not sure what we're going to do today but T and I do need to get home and finish things up before the boys return tomorrow. It will be so good to see them, and I can't wait for them to lay eyes on their playhouse!

Last night, I dreamed -again- that Amanda Hesser and I were fast friends. I'm sure this would come to pass if ever we meet.

Off to the paper!
