What a night! It’s hard to photograph this tree damage, but suffice it to say that we have a lot of unwanted trees/branches/leaves/etc in our yard. It’s almost funny how ridiculous this all is in that after months of deck construction, it was finally finished yesterday. Fortunately, it seems fine. In an crazy fit of gardener obsession, I ran out in the thunder/lightning to save the tomatoes. I think I really am channeling Ouiser.

Oliver was up all night poor honey. I was fully thrown up on twice and feel I must smell to the nines right now, not in a good way. Jack was up around 5:30 wanting to make vanilla pops in the food processor. No dice buddy- at present, I don’t even know my name.

Aunt Flo came early too. Needless to say, no yoga for me today. Maybe the ghost of Rip Van Winkle will come and put us all to sleep for hours and hours! Please!

French silk pie: it’s amazing how intense and right taste-memories can be. My Aunt Da (my Nanny’s (now 90) older sister by 15+ years) often made this as I was growing up, and I always loved it. Aunt Da died about twenty years ago, and I haven’t tasted this since. Nanan (Aunt Da’s daughter) dug this recipe up for me a few weeks ago, and when I slipped the first bite into my mouth tonight, I was immediately transported back to Aunt Da’s kitchen. She was such a sweet soul, so kindly and good, and always had some delicious but very simple treat at the ready. This is for you, Aunt Da.

Also, Tom is very proud of his rapidly improving latte art.
