Lusty love, foiled by hidden spinach

Peeps, this picture does not do this justice, but I love this tasty dish. T and I are chowing! Now, I was foiled by the fact that the bulk of the thyme pesto recipe is baby spinach. Hells, bells, I did not remember that, so that recipe is off the list for tonight. Rather, we're roasting 1/3" rounds of new potatoes from the farmers market and will then pan saute them the rest of the way with garlic and thyme a la Alice Waters.

At that market today, I saw a woman, at least 15 years older than am I, with pigtails at the 2:00 and 10:00 of her head. Bangs were the sidekick, there may have been bows or colored rubber bands; that I can't recall but regardless, I want to say that honey, I respect your youthful feelings but this hairdo is a DON'T. It dates and sillifies you, and I wish I knew you well enough to intervene. Alas.

Jack was a cowboy until we put him to bed. He ate dinner "on the range", we made mess kits, etc. I tell you, when he's passionate, he gives it 200%. Meanwhile, Oliver spent the evening jumping around with his arms flapping like a bird saying "I'm so happy, I'm so happy." Do you want to die? Darling.

Have I mentioned that the gym-going is making me happy?

New recipes posted, apologies if you experienced site outage

Hello! I have just posted the recipes for the Buttermilk Plum Cake and Aunt Renee's Applesauce. As well, my apologies if you experienced trouble accessing Em-i-lis earlier. We host the site here at home and had to turn our power off while T rewired an electrical box to the deck.

Presently, Jack is obsessing about cowboy gear- we tried to do our best with the clothes he has but damn if he doesn't look just like the preppiest little honey you ever saw. His plaid shirt and brown belt just aren't rugged in any way. Heck, his jeans don't even look western. I asked him about the Sunday switch from policeman, and he replied "well, cowboys also have guns and holsters." I said, "they carry weapons to protect their herds. Does that change your opinion of cowboys at all?" He said, "yes, but I still want to dress up like one." I need to find a cowboy hat...

Meatball party

Friends, I scored better than I expected on some components of my fitness exam and, as I suspected, have really lost some ground cardiologically. Being that I love stats and challenges, this info will serve as a helpful motivating factor to do more in that realm. In the meantime, I am going to chill or choose some wine in anticipation of dinner tonight and commence with the giant meatball party that occurs when I make this recipe as it calls for 6 28oz cans of tomatoes, 4 onions and 4.5 pounds of meat amongst other items. We had a big morning so the kids are now ensconced in the basement watching Mighty Machines.

Does anyone's significant other ever stay up late multiple nights in a row and then act zombie-like the following days? I issued a warning to my guy today that I did not feel this was real acceptable in the sense that we have extremely energetic young'uns and guess what doesn't help Mom? Zombies. Do I ever want to stay up really late when I'm immersed in something? Yes. Do I? Almost never because I know what's coming. Grr.
