24 March 2020: Daily Humor, not much of it

Friends, while today was not bad, I don’t have much in the way of humor for you. People are dying alone, giving birth alone, being buried largely alone, feeling alone. Two friends and I had virtual quarantinis tonight, and that was grand. While I gardened earlier, I caught up with many lovely neighbors. One is borrowing a sewing machine from another to make masks for local hospitals. My squash seeds are up, all this rain promises life and growth.

And yet, our federal leadership is an offensive joke, and I am disgusted and enraged. Citizens sewing masks? Lovely but not something that should be needed. States closing schools for the rest of this school year? If we had enough tests, that probably wouldn’t be necessary.

Then Tom and I watched Bombshell, and I am telling you that Roger Ailes can die again for all I care, and Bill O’Reilly should be miserable for life. My god, am I sick of grotesque men. WTF did Harvey Weinstein get a Covid-19 test? How did he even get it? I suspect this is some wealthy-man’s plot to stay out of the showers at Rikers.

So, all I have for you are the following. The first is totally amusing; the second is just nasty-true.

Ben Wittes of Lawfare does cabin fever. If you don’t read his and Susan Hennessey’s Lawfare blog, you should.

23 March 2020: Daily Humor

God, y’all, what day is it? I mean seriously. Midday today, I was like is it a weekend day or not? What time is it? Does it matter?

I am happy that y’all enjoyed the Freddie creature (ground hog? hamster?) and are also praying that RBG is in some sort of germ-free isolation cell in which she is both happy and safe.

Today I have a few gems for you, the star of which is, I believe, these Italian mayors beseeching their citizens, in a terrifically Italian way, to stay the eff inside. Yes, the subtitles are accurate. Listen with the sound on. There is little better than peeved-out, gesticulating Italians.

Also delightful includes the reemergence of the Piglet-Pooh walk and also what things may come to regarding hair cuts.

22 March 2020: Daily Humor + are you angry/scared/other?

Someone on Twitter today asked if folks were finding themselves more angry than scared. I am most definitely more angry than scared because Agent Orange received multiple intelligence reports in both January and February, “ominous, classified warnings” about the global threat of the coronavirus but chose instead to completely downplay the risks, ignore all opportunities to begin preparing, and tell his minions that the entire thing was a hoax perpetrated by Democrats. Meanwhile, two congressional Republicans sold off large amounts of stocks based on insider information about the economic impact of the virus ALL WHILE telling Americans that everything would be fine, and now the idiot in chief is claiming he knew all along that this would become a pandemic and hasn’t he responded in perfect, beautiful ways since the virus’s inception despite the fact that the medical workers on the frontlines are horrifically short of safety supplies like masks and crucial equipment like ventilators. Americans are going to die because a narcissistic imbecile wanted to keep his numbers low. Call me furious. I’d love to hear how you’re feeling.

Such a pity. Say few.

Such a pity. Say few.

With that, it is important to keep exercising, laughing, and doing what we can to stay healthy and help others.

Listen to Rita Wilson rap while in quarantine.

Listen to this little creature do Freddie! This is one of my favorite things EVER!
