This morning’s haul from the farmers market! Cucumbers, beets, radishes, PEA VINES -finally- and an eggplant. Mmmm…

We all had breakfast there- I love to watch the boys eat. Jack ordered a triple ginger muffin, paid for it, and scarfed it down. Oliver opted for a beef empanada and likewise chowed. From Bonaparte, a beautiful, beloved French bakery outpost, Tom enjoyed a ham and gruyere croissant, and I a spinach one. C’est bon!

These tarts were superb. Not that we’d know, but no one missed the hibiscus as the strawberry-rhubarb compote I made instead was fabulous. T thought he’d prefer my family pie crust for future renditions of this tart, but I liked the pronounced corn flavor, courtesy of corn meal and corn flour, in these shells. Mamma mia. Both boys just chowed one each for breakfast. Sooo glad we have more.
