Really fun fam vacation

Despite the fact that T and I seem to have been struck by a recurrence of the crappy cold we've been battling for a month now, this trip has really been fun so far. There's not much in the way of food news to speak of, sadly, though I'm grateful we brought all we did: homemade blueberry muffins and fresh fried Amish slab bacon this morning were a treat! We also brought some freshly ground coffee and our moka-pot from Italy (stove-top espresso maker) so had two nice lattes as well. We taught Jack to play Clue (still such a good game) and then headed off to the slope. Literally one slope. Totally OK- we had a ball. The kids did a great job in ski school, and for T and me, it felt like old times. I think it's so important, especially once kids come along, to do things as a couple that help you remember how you once were. It's easy to focus on just getting through each day, tag-teaming your way and then crashing into bed each night utterly exhausted and spent. So this morning was really nice. Then I took Jack for one last run, we had a quick lunch, I sent T home to tend to his headache, and the boys and I played in the arcade. Skeeball is such a fun game, as are those road races where can drive like a fiend, hitting walls and bus stops be damned!

Big day, satisfying dinner

Wow, did we pack a lot into a half day. After picking the boys up from their ski lesson, we changed, rested for the quickest of moments and headed to the live animal show (the boys and me) and a beer tasting (T). Afterwards, we rendezvoused for an early dinner for the boys and a glass of (much-the-eff-deserved) wine for me, then got ice cream, then a take-it dinner for the grown-ups and then raced home to bathe our dear but stinky kids and throw them into bed. First day out

Par for the course, one's in their bed, one in ours (to be moved) because they just couldn't keep feet/hands/etc to themselves, but they're zonked, and I'm not long for this world tonight either. We all ski tomorrow, and I'm quite looking forward to it. Though our dining has been a disappointment thus far, tonight's dinner was very satisfying! Lobster bisque, a fresh salad with beets/bleu/poached pears and some truffled mac and cheese. I was so freaking hungry so all this really tasted good.
