I have two stalkers: they are my children

People, I am literally being stalked being the children. At present, Oliver is hanging from my back, as I sit on a stool typing. He is asking if he can actually get even closer by sitting on my lap. I have said no repeatedly but to no avail. Now his hand is in the waistband of my shorts.Earlier today, I took Jack to a Lego birthday party. I assumed that 20,000 Legos would be a much greater draw than me, but alas no. We were attached at the hip, in a one-sided kinda way, for two hours, breaking only for fruit salad and cake from the ravenous 5 yr old boy.

It is as if I have regrown two umbilical cords and the children have fixed themselves to me. It's a little intense folks.

No microwave for 3 weeks; "flowlers"; Apricot-Peach-Almond Jam

Y'all, our microwave went kaput a day ago, the repairman just came, had to order some parts and the next available slot for repair is in three weeks. Argh. I actually use that sucker a lot. Oh well. Oliver is walking around with Jack's guitar capo and saying "I have clippers, I clip flowlers." I love little kids' mispronunciations. Jack still says "nibbles" for nipples. Adorable.

Lastly, I was inspired to make jam using those gorgeous apricots and peaches that I posted a pic of recently. What is good with those fruits? Almonds are, so I put a dash of almond extract in while cooking. Yum!

Nice to be home, mayhem still here, can't wait to cook dinner tonight

Hmm...it's not yet 8:30a, but I'm pondering what to make for dinner? I'm thinking about replicating that mozzarella, pistachio dish that I enjoyed at Laurelhurst and perhaps a grilled radicchio, preserved lemon and toasted breadcrumb recipe from Molly Wizenberg. Last night we were too tired to cook so ordered yummy Indian take-out and had a great bottle of Cab. But now I'm back in the kitch and ready. It was so nice to see the boys and I think they were happy to see us too despite a great time with the grandparents. Oliver was up at 5:30 calling for me, and it was quite the juxtaposition between forced early morning wake-up and being completely without schedule. Lordy. Off to pilates.
