The ultimate donuts, hilarious event

At present, we're in the Lake Charles airport and Oliver is an overtired, overstimulated ham. I'm stifling my laughter because he's showing off by lolling and rolling about on the floors, and it's disgusting and certainly shouldn't be promoted, but he is really a crack-up. If you are or ever find yourself in Lake C,

20121014-134849.jpg please do yourself the enormous favor of going to Nelson's Donuts on E McNeese St. OH.MY.GOD. Best donuts ever. In high school, we started most post-slumber party days there, and since I've been bringing the boys to see Mom and Dad, Nelson's has reemerged as an excellent and delicious tradition! The plain glazed are spectacular, as are the chocolate glazed and strawberry jelly filleds.

Almost-disaster story from last night will have to wait until later- we're about to take off.

Finito

What another wonderfully fun night. I am now officially TIRED but the boys were great, we all danced the night away, I christened yet another pair of fab shoes, and the bride and groom were stunning. I received many compliments on my mint-pistachio pesto and gobbled fresh shrimp and raw oysters like it was my job. We head back to DC in about 2 hours, and it'll be good to get home, back to a slight routine for the four days we'll be home and back into my kitch!

Wedding day has arrived

Everything has been beautiful and fun, my sister is radiant, everyone is doing his/her best to speak in English or Italian and a deeply happy atmosphere has settled over our town. That said, I am partied out and suspect that my body is considering a revolt. You know when you start to feel a generalized ache emanating from the inside out. Your mouth starts to feel as if you've flossed too aggressively several days in a row. You wake up feeling less than refreshed. I'm there. In spades.

In an hour, I'm due at the salon, the wedding is a full mass starting at 1:30 and then there are pictures, followed by the reception at six. Whoa! I feel slightly old.
