West Virginia

It was incredibly wonderful to hear from so many of you since posting on Tuesday. Thank you for reaching out and for your friendship, support, and humor. I adore you all.

Cancer is a beast, and I hate it. Thank you for keeping my friends in your thoughts. One finished chemo today, one took the plunge and shaved her head, and another was told that her most recent scan showed sixteen mets in her brain and yet still she and her wife laugh and text me messages and are strong. I am humbled beyond articulation. I love all of these women. And to another friend who wrote today to share the news of her recent and second mastectomy, you are brave and strong and we all flex and care for you. My god.

Not that it compares in any way, but many of you asked about WV, so I thought I’d share a few photos from our month here. Perhaps they’ll be a visual balm as they have, daily, for me. The cats in these photos are barn cats who’ve lived here for all their lives- 13 years. We adopted and adore them. Jinx, Spot, and Ruby- we love you!
