Rose petal color transference

Some cool pics I just found from rose petal jelly making the other day... As a reminder about where things began:

In simmering water, the rich hue starts to drain from the petals. Firs stop: magenta!

Near the end, the color transfer is nearly complete, and the once-vibrant petals look like dainty skeletons of their old selves, floating lazily in a pink lagoon.
