Oh, the curse of the odd-shaped pan has struck again. 4 cups of cake flour, 2 sticks of lovely organic butter, 4 truly free-range (read: pricey) eggs, a vanilla bean, 2 cups of buttermilk... Though the dump-truck pan called for a double-layer cake mix, it was way too much batter, and so the rim is baked while the center is like hot lava. I HATE the thought of tossing such good ingredients and starting again. Sigh.
